The park is named after a fallen El Dorado Hills firefighter, Lieutenant Peter L. Bertelsen, who lost his life in the line of duty on September 16, 1965.

This lovely park is located high up in Ridgeview Village and is full of oak trees, a lawn area, and a nice sized playground for kids. In addition, the park has a pond and a small stream that flows through it.

A 1.5 mile long nature trail is a nice addition to the park. The New York Creek Nature Trail offers a peaceful and shaded walk along New York Creek and is a great way to enjoy some of the natural beauty that makes El Dorado Hills such a special place.

Wild Oaks Park

Wild Oaks Park at Ridgeview Park is a wonderful place to take a stroll in the fresh air. This 9.7-acre neighborhood park features a 0.5-mile walking/jogging trail, pavilions, restrooms, and ample green space.

It also offers a natural view of nearby Sacramento and Folsom Lake. The park is a great place to relax and take in the surroundings while enjoying some family time.

The park is situated on the corner of Francisco and Pendleton Drives, across from Jackson Elementary School. The park features a lawn area, picnic tables, barbecue pits, horseshoe pits, and native oak trees.
